DO obtain the proper license from the rightsholder first if you wish to you use an IP as part of your campaign.

DO explore other ways of legally using materials such as using public domain works, using works under Creative Commons licenses, or commissioning artists to create original works specifically for campaign use.

DO pay royalties to the rightsholder/s.


DON’T use intellectual property (ex. copyrighted works such as songs, photos, videos; registered trademarks, etc.) as campaign materials without permission and/or payment of royalties.

DON’T use a licensed work beyond the scope of the license.

DON’T forget to give credit to the author and/or artist of the work.

Make sure to include the following in your report:

Name of the person making the report, unless such person wishes to remain anonymous;

 Brief description of the alleged election-related unauthorized use of IP, including the time, date, and place where such violation took place;

 Any photographic, aural, or audiovisual evidence of the alleged election-related unauthorized use of IP;

 The name of the candidate/party who/which committed the alleged election-related unauthorized use of IP.
