The Automatic Irrigation system is a device or machine for irrigating rice fields. It utilizes electricity, particularly from hybrid power sources such as solar power and grid-supplied electricity, for water pumping.

Innovative Features and Benefits:

The mismanagement of water supply in rice production could result in up to 40% reduction of yield. This is commonly address by using fuel power water pump to provide irrigation, however a large operational cost is associated in the use of such technology (diesel/gasoline water pumps).The invention hybrid solar-grid automatic irrigation system can address this problems by utilizing cost efficient technology such as utilization of electricity in irrigation.

The system is configured to primarily supply power from solar energy other than the utilization from grid energy. This has been done using automation and sensors technology implemented in a manner that efficiently utilized electricity in water pumping. It also monitors the water levels of the rice field as well as the environmental parameters that can help the system decide on proper irrigation practice to be implemented.

The system operates 24/7 autonomously using an electronic control system and sensors without human intervention.

The Real-time Data Monitoring used of environment sensors (temperature, humidity, rain) and ultrasonic sensing technology to detect water levels in the rice field provides an advantage in efficient irrigation activity.

The system reduces if not eliminates the risk of drought stress in rice farming that contributes to a 40% reduction in yield. It is safe to say that by using this technology, rainfed rice farmers increase their production by 40%.

Business Potential:

The Automatic Irrigation system was developed for rice field irrigation to help rainfed areas. Currently, the technology has a huge potential market (Agusan del Sur alone has 87, 973 hectares with 80.41% of rainfed area).The technology can be beneficial to the rice growers, Agricultural machinery fabricators and rice irrigation cooperative.
